Is Tower Records closing up shop?

If any doubt remains that the sales of CD's and traditional record stores will soon be a memory, the news that several record companies have stopped shipping to Tower Records should make it clear.

While the reason for the suspension of shipments is clear, the deeper meaning is less certain. The companies have stopped supplying albums because of lack of payment. Whether the venerable Tower Records is out of cash or is attempting to force better terms remains unclear. What is more certain is that the last vestiges of the former record distribution chain will be completely gone within a few years.

Tower Records Closing in NYC

Reported on Howard Stern that all Tower Records in the NYC area are closing. Too Bad. I bought a great disk at the 24 hour Tower Records in Greenwhich village TR back in 1984.

Just a Faded Dream....

You know, its quite amazing that just a few decades ago, the general public APPRECIATED going to a record store and BROWSING and EXPLORING the various categories of music. But Guess What...its time to get LIVIN IN THE 80's!!! What does this mean?
More goods and services TO DISTRACT one from the interest of music. CELL PHONES SUV's CASINOS -GAMBLING , EATING OUT IN OVERPRICED CHAIN RESTAURANTS.

This is the 2nd(!) chain of Record stores that has gone out in the last 12 months. Media Play in the beginning of the year!

Funny one doesnt SEE restaurants going out of biz. CANT DOWNLOAD the FRESH GARBAGE served right?
Wild. just 10 years ago, there WASTNT a need for the OVERUSE of cell phones. The same demongraphics DID without! NOW? That's WHY a $17.00 CD SEEMS to be OUT OF SIGHT!

Music is not important anymore!!! Thank goodness other countries DONT see it that way!!!

BTW, the cost of purchasing music has KEPT with the times! It has risen FAR LESS than the price of a gallon of gas has , talking 30 years (music) vs the last 18 months!!

Finally, BLAME the RUSH IDIOT GARY LEE (GEDDY) for predicting COMPUTERS taking over ther world in their riDICKulous 2112 release!! (UGH -whacha say about society......that guy!)

Record stores

It really is hard for traditional record store to compete with the interent. If you want to listen to something and you are at home chances are that the first thing you will think about is downloading the track right?
